weekend recap: independence and paninis

Yes, I'm on a roll today...

After this event on Saturday, we headed just outside of the city to one of the most famous sites in American Independence, Lexington and Concord, although not my idea, became quickly an incredible journey.

"Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year"
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Seeing his house was surreal...

the famous North Bridge {the reconstructed North Bridge in Minute Man National Historical Park, Concord}

{just to be clear...there are no attendees of UGA here}

and then we went into town and had a visit at nesting on main:

I want to bottle up all of these and put them on my imaginary mantle:
lots of little rooms tucked away in this sweet attic shop

and look at the floors! l-o-v-e
oh and if you go to nesting on main, you have to go here:
and try their homemade new england crabcake panini:

Question: What is your favorite way to soak up history?  On site?  In a book?  Television?

  2. Great photos, as always! I have to admit, not so much a history buff - totally appreciate it, but my knowledge of history is splotchy at best (not good!)! What a fun way to spend the day though... your panini, amazing!

  5. Officially starving after seeing that sandwich! I love traveling and wish I had appreciate the historic sites more as a child on trips.

  6. My favorite way to soak up history is to read up, check out the sites and watch old movies - the best though is being there and speaking to the people and enjoying the scenes and the tastes.

  13. Mmm, that sandwich sounds delicious! I was a history major, so really any of those ways work for me, but I'm a particular fan of soaking up history in person.
