The Gift of Words

Growing up, our mom had a big jar of questions, I'm sure it had a clever name, but I can't think of it right now.  Whenever we had company, my mom would pass around the jar and get the convo going... This year I decided I would bring the tradition back to our Christmas dinner and brainstorm a few Christmas questions to put in the "jar" that I created.  This was a really quick {thankfully because my to do list right now is very daunting} and inexpensive project .  I took left-over burlap from my fireplace project and glued it to the jar, added black ribbon, some string and a branch from our tree with a gift tag from a Paper Source hang tag kit.

On the inside of the jar I included these gift tags that I stamped with a present stamp and then embossed and added ribbon:

On the back of each card is a Christmas related question.

This might sound really lame to some, but I promise it ends up being more fun then expected!  Typically when we do the questions, you learn something new about the person or hear a story that you've never heard.  This year, it will be special to hear about everyone's favorite Christmas moments and traditions.

I'm off to California this week...fingers crossed that my flight does not get cancelled due to the storm, because this is what I woke up to:

and it better be warmer than Boston!  Can't wait!  Enjoy your week & because I might not be able to post back in Cali...I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

Oh & I almost forgot...the winner picked by Random.Org of the All Modern Giveaway is Cristin from Simplified Bee! Congrats!

p.s. check us out on Tuesday, December 22 at La Vie J'aime for her special Stocking Series!

  15. I think this is a grand idea. I think it's fun to ask random questions and see where the conversation goes. I always learn something entirely new, even about family.
