Please, come take a seat on our new summer bench

I'm pretty excited about our summer bench upgrade.  I've had this bench for years, and I'm constantly changing out the fabric.  Here it is from this past winter, yikes....
and here it is now!  I guess if you're not a floral person, this is a downgrade to you.

perfect for the summer...

I painted the frame a light grey, and used a Jay Yang fabric we found for a steal!  This is such a quick project with a staple gun...

My sweet friend Linds made me the striped coral pillow from fabric I found for cheap {she made two, but only one is on the bench}.  I just adore them.  Learning how to work a sewing machine was very high on my list, but now that I know she's so good {and very fast}, I don' think I'll ever learn.  Thanks again Linds!

  2. I love the idea of putting new fabric on a household staple... like getting something brand new but without spending much $$. Eco-conscious, too!

  4. Great re-do! I love pieces like that-that are easy to update and change up when you're tired of how they look at the moment. So much easier and cheaper than buying something new!

  14. Thank you everyone!

Yvonne-I did a post a while back with info on the peacock pillow:

    http://deliciouslyorganized.blogspot.com/2010/03/8-weeks-to-being-deliciously-organized.html

It has a few links to where you can get the fabric. The pillow itself is from Pottery Barn 1.5 years ago. I hope that helps :)

  23. Love a good stripe AND a good floral!! Great upgrade, very summery indeed. And, how lucky you are to have a nifty friend on the sewing machine. Getting better acquainted with my machine (which is gathering dust) is on my l.o.n.g list of things to do!

    Linda. :)

  24. Thanks for the help with the peacock fabric! A couple of years ago I had a pillow made out of that fabric but the *original* vintage version that a client had found in London (find it here: http://www.yvonneblacker.com/Portfolio.html).

Recently, someone asked me about how they could find that fabric and at the time I did not know that Pottery Barn was using Braemore's reproduced version of it. That was such a neat way to find what I was looking for! Thanks for the links!

  25. It looks so summery! I've been searching high and low for a bench that has a cushion that can be recovered. Like you, I love to switch things up regularly.
