Last year when I came to visit Boston {before moving here}, I purchased this aviator hat {half-jokingly} thinking "maybe" I would wear it some day when I lived here:
Today might have been the first time that I wore it... and while wearing it I have to say, I felt really, really, silly in it...BUT I was thankful that I had made the purchase last year because it was FREEZING walking to work today.
Some of you may know that I moved here from California in January of this year {during the ice and snow} so I know this is just the beginning..it's about to get real cold.

Does anyone have an item that makes you feel "silly" but keeps you really warm?
Or are you living large back on the West Coast still in your slaps?
I would wear it!!! I hate for my ears to be cold.... brrrrrr

When I moved to Minnesota a few years back (note that I'm not there anymore!) I really wanted to buy one but couldn't find a good non-fur option. THis is cute! I would have totally worn it= but I even wore ski pants outside when walking the dogs, so I am probably not a good judge. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cute hat- I would def wear it! I wore a black knit hat I got at Urban last year. SOOO bitterly cold this am! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI finally broke down this year and bought a huge, long puffer jacket which makes me look like I've been enjoying the holiday cheer a bit too much!! Oh well, it keeps me warm, and hey, I did get it at JCrew so how bad can it really be?

p.s. the hat cracks me up. I'd feel silly in it as well, but warm, thank you very much!

I live in CA and I NEED this hat! It is cold here lately - like 35 degrees cold!! And I'm heading to MN for the weekend! Wish me luck :)
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding - I look like the dough boy whenever I go out - a few years ago I said 'to hell with looking cute' and got myself the warmest things every and now although I look like a goof - I am oh so very warm! so I feel ya there!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I have learn quickly that you have to dress for warmth NOT to be cute. Now, I love to look nice but when it is just downright cold, you have to stay warm. We just moved from Fl. to northern Ky. and my husband and I were running errands and I had a puffy (hate) coat on. My husband said that it was just not stylish. (this coming from a man who dresses for comfort) It isn't stylish but it is warm.
ReplyDeleteI totally need one of those hats- I think its not silly at all- and for those who think it is silly try living in Boston for one winter and you will want one too :)
ReplyDeleteI have a very similar hat in red, with perhaps a bit more obnoxious of a fur situation. At first, I was really embarrassed to wear it, but eventually started rocking it with pride. After awhile, a few people said, "you know, you're one of the only people I know who can pull that thing off," which was actually gratifying to hear. Definitely wear your hat with pride, and it will be cool no matter what.
