sunset from the new place last night

Our boxes have been moved, we've finished the last bottle of champagne from our wedding (at our old house)...and we're ready to start getting settled.

The organization that needs to happen in our new kitchen is almost beyond me.  We are going from a very large (city living large) kitchen, to a kitchen that is now 1/4 the size.  And, we have accumulated more kitchen appliances over the years than I could have ever imagined.  I will need to get very creative on how I put our things away.  I've been looking at pinterest for some ideas and came across this image:

Tiny kitchen organization

It reminds me that you really don't need much to get by.  A tea pot, a few cups and plates and some knives seem appropriate.  This will be my inspiration on purging.

I think that keeping things monochromatic seems to be the trick, though:

Tiny tiny kitchen!
In my search for inspiration, I also came across this little nook.  Makes me happy:

Tiny Kitchen Nook

All right, enough stalling- wish me luck on tackling this kitchen.

  1. I love the simplicity of these images - best of luck!

  2. Congrats on the move! The kitchen downsizing/organization project is exciting. Can't wait to see what delicious design you come up with!

  3. Good luck dear...dont worry you'll handle it well

  4. Edit and streamline to have only what is useful and beautiful.
I know you will create a simply lovely spot. Fantastic images.

  5. Oooh, love those inspiration pics! Can't wait to see how it all turns out. Here's some tips I put together once we'd organised our tiny city kitchen Good luck! (I found the first few weeks were like an extended game of kitchen tetris, but you will find an arrangement that works eventually!

  6. Congrats and good luck with the new place! I love the nook idea and have been wanting to try that! I would sugguest some hidden storage underneath the booth! Everything has to have a purpose in a small space! I've learned this very quickly in our small farmhouse.

  7. I'm in love with that last little nook! Congrats on your new place - looking forward to hearing more about it!

  8. best of luck! I'm sure you'll make it look great!

  9. I have had more fun perusing your wonderful blog this morning - just love the ideas for small kitchens. The second image with the open shelving around the stove is brilliant - great look!! Happy to be your newest follower!!

  10. Forgot to say that I wish you luck with all of the unpacking - not the fun part, but can't wait to see it all come together - great new place!!
