Although I love gingerbread lattes, they are packed with with sugar, dairy and a ton of calories and seem to leave me feeling...sluggish. Don't get me wrong, I'll be drinking a few this season, but I wanted to see if a holiday smoothie had the same magical feel as holding that warm cup. And...it DOES! For me at least! Here's what I did:
Gingerbread Smoothie:
1/2 cup organic almond milk
1 organic banana
3 ice cubes
1 tsp. organic molasses
1/4 tsp. organic ground ginger
1/2 tsp. organic cinnamon
1/2 tsp- 1tsp. of organic vanilla
Also, I tried this exact recipe with 4 kale leaves and that is too many for this recipe. If you want to get your greens in, I would add more almond milk and one more banana. Then it would be just right.
Swear it's so good!
Enjoy!
fun fact: Molasses, on average, contains 41 mg of calcium and 48 mg of magnesium
for 1 tbsp. At 293 mg of potassium per 1 tbsp., it qualifies as a
high-potassium food comparable to kiwi or oranges. It
also offers iron, vitamin B6, selenium and copper.
