This image has been around forever, but it's still one of my favorites. I enjoy spaces with beautiful and meaningful items, and this photograph seems to display them organized, but not too sterile.   Although I'm a bit of a minimalist, I still find myself creating little "zones" like this in my home.

Question: What about you? Are you a minimalist?  Or do you like a lot of stuff around?

  1. I'm totally a minimalist, but I like that this space looks warm. You have to be careful not to look sterile/not lived-in when you prefer a minimalist look.

  2. One of my faves too... I would love to have that cool space in my home :)

    Happy Monday!

  3. I'm a minimalist most of the time :) but there is something about this space that seems to work and doesn't leave me itching to clear everything off and away.
    Totally lovin' the green boxes!!

btw - everytime I see the name of your blog I get happy little tingley sunbursts inside of me! It sums it all about :)

  4. My inner minimalist always is being bossed around by my "clutterist"~ I so want my minimalist to just stand up and not be bullied.

  5. I'm definitely a minimalist... I often have to take photos of the rooms in my home so that I can see the bare spots with a fresh eye. I'm so obsessed with "air space" that I'm known to keep a drawer with only 1-2 items in it. This image doesn't read "clutter" to me, although there is definitely a boat load of stuff here. I like that the lines are still clean and things are easily accessible. I might try this vignette one day!

  6. I'm somewhere in between but definitely hate clutter. I love this image, there is so much going on but still manages not to look cluttered - that takes skill!

  7. I'm with you, it's a fine line, but I like a few personal items interspersed with essentials. Shallow baskets like this look chic but I tend to find deeper baskets are more practical...it's a pretty and expensive looking composition.

  8. So funny you asked these questions today! I love layered and full images of other houses. I added some antique shields (sound crazy but I assure you there are cool) to my wall yesterday and woke up this am and told my husband that there is too much "stuff" in the living rm now. I get weirded out with visual "chaos" a bit! I guess I have to stick with being minimalist!

  9. I am trying to become more of a minimalist - like a hotel room, but with a bit of personality! It is a tough balancing act!

  10. i like stuff. stacks of magazines, books, a few nick nacks. not crazy hoarder-like but stuff that makes me feel good. i could see myself with the above table... maybe just a few things removed though. otherwise, it would fit right into my home.

  11. I would have to say that I am a good mixture of the two! Don't like a lot of things sitting around (simply b/c I don't want to have to clean it!!) but some rooms call for more!

  12. I love this....my home tends to be a bit more minimalist, but this has inspired me to create such a zone.

  13. I try to be a mixture, I don't like a lot of clutter, but I also like to be able to look at pretty things. And sometimes it just gets out of control :)

  14. It depends what kind of mood I am in!

  15. I love that image too! I am certainly a minimalist. No question about it. I don't like any stuff really. It ends up frustrating me.

  16. I guess you could say I am mixed. I like things to be neat and put away but the like some areas to have stuff to make the space feel cozy. I love this image...perfect balance of having stuff out yet well organized!

  17. I like how this space is organized, but still has so much character. As much as I want to be a minimalist, I don't think I am one at all!

  19. I LOVE this image. Agree, it's a bit cluttered but I always seem to do that with something in the home. Good inspiration!
Cannot wait to see you soon!!!

  20. I'd like to think that I'm a minimalist with a good dose of maximalist tendencies... I agree that having zones to go all-out are great and keep things from looking cluttered. Love this image too!

  22. I'm a see saw....lots of stuff. Organize it. It gets messy. I start clearing out. Cycle begins again! :) Love this image, too!!!

  23. I also love this image. I don't think it would be practical for me, b/c if I can't see it, then I forget about it. I wish I were more stylish with my "stuff," but I am by no means a minimalist...however much I might wish I were.

  24. Minimalist feels a little too perfect and sterile to me, but too much stuff makes me want to clear the decks, so I guess I must be somewhere in between. I love the little treasures (from vacations, something handmade or great finds at an outdoor market) that make my home feel more like me. :)

    Have a great day!
