Cleansing Tips for Coffee Addicts

I know there are a few people who plan on doing the cleanse, so I thought doing a post to help kick the coffee habit would be helpful?  There are several types of coffee drinkers {in my experience}.  

1. People who drink it black
2. People who are addicted to the routine, experience, process...{fill in the blank}
3. People who drink it for the flavor
4. People who like it for the SUGAR and CREAM 
5. People who NEED it to wake up

Here are a few tips to help {hopefully} everyone out:

14 Days Before the cleanse: Try replacing your coffee with an organic brand or if you're really brave try a Caffeine Free Herbal Coffee:

10 Days Before the cleanse: Cut out the milk and sugar and replace it with Rice Milk, Hazelnut Milk or Almond Milk {I prefer these over soy}. Add Agave Nectar to make it sweeter.  If you need a flavor, add a touch of organic vanilla extract

7 Days Before the cleanse: Start making or ordering your coffee 1/2 caf and cutting off your last cup earlier in the day {1:00 p.m. instead of 4:00 p.m.}

4 Days Before the cleanse: Start drinking decaf only... 

2 Days Before the cleanse: Begin drinking herbal tea or green tea {decaf} and hide your coffee machine {if you can} and other coffee related items.  It helps to have these items out of sight.  During this time you can mess around with different teas {purchasing an assortment box is a good call} and begin creating a new routine in your morning.  If you take medication at night that makes you sleepy in the morning, try a simple yoga routine to get your body and mind moving.  Here is another helpful article to get yourself moving in the morning.

On the day of the cleanse, you won't be in total shock if you wean yourself off early.  Remind yourself that you will only be without for a short period of time. If you rely on it to wake up because you're a night owl, you may notice you don't need it anymore because you're hitting the sack earlier.  Even one cup of coffee can make it more difficult to fall asleep at night.  

I bet you're all going to be cursing me on the first morning of your cleanse!

  3. I love rice milk in my coffee it's great. I seriously drink so little coffee it's ridiculous. I don't know why I make it.
