when you have a few extra bucks, how do you spend it?
a small bunch of flowers?
a magazine?
*a good book?
*a cup of coffee?
*a delicious cupcake?
*a candle?
It's always fun to hear what people spend their discretionary income on. Would love to hear what you pick. As you can see, this month I spent mine on a few bunches of peonies and on the House Beautiful Favorite Paint Colors {although I should be saving every penny for that big event}.
*AND, I'm cracking up on the "light blogging" comments I just read. I imagine it being said with a thick accent..."a bit of light blogging this week..." Love it!
Magazines, flowers, ice cream, drinks with you, design books, JCrack, nail polish....basically I have bought it all this week. Very bad Lindsay for sure.
ReplyDeleteHope the cleaning is going ok, you have till 4 to make the house spotless :)

I would def. purchase some fresh fruits from the farmer's market! I love fresh strawberries!

those peonies are absolutely beautiful (i'm biased though; they're my favorite flowers...)
ReplyDeletei would definitely pick up some magazines and essie or opi nail polish as well. it's the little things in life that make you the happiest, right? :)
Definently flowers, a good interior or fashion magazine..and ofcourse a great book, you can never get enough of these things:)
ReplyDeleteSomething from a vintage store...to add a little spice to a room.
ReplyDeleteAlmost always books. Or things from Anthropologie.
ReplyDeleteI am really trying to save for a home renovation and twins going off to college - so I have to say, I sock every penny away. I go to the library, I make my own tea and coffee, I walk the dog and I try to re-used candles. Thrift stores are high on my list, or trash day treasures.

what a great question--I keep buying fresh cut peonies (my fav flower) at our grocery for $3.99, a magazine for sure and manicures from Esther--she's the best!
ReplyDeletePeonies are my absolute favorite! Isn't it great that they're everywhere right now? Beautiful images!
ReplyDeletewaaaaaay too many chai lattes, colorful headbands, and cupcakes :)
ReplyDeleteBooks. I never feel guilty about a book purchase unless I buy hard cover when I could have waited for the soft cover version to come out in a few month.
ReplyDeletePretty much the things you named- flowers, coffee, magazine, cupcakes, books... Although I usually don't buy candles- even though I love them. Might need to add that to my list!
ReplyDeleteI make a weekly trip to the bookstore to buy a stack of design mags and a green tea. It makes me so happy.
ReplyDeleteAll of the above...and LIPGLOSS and more LIPGLOSS :)
ReplyDeleteI have a terrible weakness for pretty paper products and good pens. I adore nice stationary, napkins, little notebooks and I love how a good pen feels while writing with it. Oh, and thanks so much for stopping by my little blog... I really appreciate your comments!!

I can't wait to come over and put all the pieces of your house together in my head. How have I not seen your house yet? Hope you and your mom are having fun!
ReplyDeletei always find something else at the thrift store i need. either that or spray paint & design books!
ReplyDeleteFlowers, magazine, a latte.....and my favorite....a pedicure!!! I'm all about the "rub".
ReplyDeletedecor/fashion/wedding magazines, cocktails, new music on iTunes, a new swimmie, nails, new running shorts!
ReplyDeleteI'm def. a sucker for magazines... I think its the shiny paper!
ReplyDeleteI see flowers as a necessity so I'd have to say wine, wine and more wine!
ReplyDeleteInterior Design Books. And then ribbon. You'd never guess that I'm trying to edit and purge things in my life. Thank goodness for the advice not to get rid of things that you consider useful and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove magazines, and I also love 20 minutes of quiet to read them :) xx
ReplyDeleteI have a mad money fund. This month I started putting $40/mo in it. What is the fund for? I don't know yet. A big ticket item. It will be a great something!!
ReplyDeleteflowers flowers and more flowers ... then a great mag. then papers and glitter to play with my boys :) le
ReplyDeletegreat choices. Most of my extra pennies get spent on flowers, herbs, art supplies ...and Lego for my 6 yr old - not necessarily in that order ;-)
ReplyDeleteFlowers and mags are always nice (and I'm tempted after seeing your lovely peony image) - but this weekend my discretionary income went to smores ingredients and hopefully, today I will find a strawberry pot to plant some more berries.
ReplyDeleteI would also buy flowers, a magazine, a potted plant, crafting supplies or an inexpensive shirt or scarf :)
ReplyDeleteI like what you've chosen to spend your money on. I'd have to pick peonies, magazines, special ingredients for a great meal. It's just the simple things.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, stop on by, I have an award for you!
I spend my discretionary income on: Antiquarian books, flowers, cup of hot chocolate, loose tea, herbs and spices, fashion, art and design magazines.
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love the Peonies. Waiting for mine to open this year. Thanks for the beautiful photos and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely magazines and cookies. I'm a cookie addict! also trying to save those pennies too.
ReplyDeletehope you had a blast with your mom!

ReplyDeleteJust bought the same pale pink peonies! And delivered some to a friend!

Probably would buy shoes and home decor at TJ Maxx. Depending on my mood I'd head too Whole Foods and pick up some all-natural cupcakes and flowers.
