I know organizing books by color is nothing new, but every time I see a photograph with rows of color coordinated books, it makes me happy.
Doesn't it make for gorgeous art?
We don't have built-ins in our apartment, but I would love to have them in my next place...
The wall of books in this room literally creates an art piece against all that white furniture. So fabulous...

I love it. It screams "happy" on a wall.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! never get sick of seeing these colorful bookcases. So great.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love basil too, doesn't everyone?mmm
is it sad i color-code my closet like this too? haha. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I happened upon your blog. Every post seems to relate to something I am currently working on or thinking about. No joke, I had my books at my feet color coordinating them when I took this break to blog. :)
ReplyDeleteLike seeing a lucky rainbow on a daily basis.

true...looks fantastic... hmmm i think it's perfect for my 8 year old son's room too... love it!
ReplyDeletethis is one of my favorite design tricks! i did it in my parents' living room and it completely transformed the little reading nook. i love that last room!
ReplyDeleteLooks so great. i don't know if I could pull it off- but love seeing it in photos!
ReplyDeleteI do this with the clothes in my closet; it's probably a little OCD, but I love looking at my closet!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you all, I do it in my closet too...
ReplyDeleteVery joyful! Weirdly though, I only tend to like the colour co-ordinated book look in white bookcases, not so much wooden or darker bookcases. I really love those bookcases that go over or around doorways like the one in the first pic..... I've always coveted one of those.
ReplyDeleteI recently read a statement from a designer that said never to sort your books by color. He felt it was more interesting to mix them up. I don't think he could be more wrong and these pictures are evidence!
ReplyDeleteLove it! It really transforms the room! That first pic is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteYup, the don't get old - easy affordable art!
ReplyDeletei've always loved this look. now i just need more bookcases . . .
ReplyDeleteThere is something about when a bookshelf continues above a door...love it, love it, want it!
